Bespoke Tailoring
At Shaun Oliver, we believe exceptional tailoring begins with truly understanding the person who will wear it. Founded by husband-and-wife team Shaun and Freya, our work is driven by craftsmanship, experience, and a genuine love for the art of creating clothes that feel as good as they look.

Shaun spent over a decade training and working on Savile Row, mastering the fundamentals of fit, structure, and detail before launching his own brand six years ago. His approach blends the precision of traditional British tailoring with a contemporary sense of ease and wearability.

When you commission a bespoke suit, your pattern is personally cut by Shaun to your exact measurements and posture, ensuring an impeccable foundation. From there, it is entrusted to our master tailors, still based on Savile Row, who bring the garment to life with expert craftsmanship and meticulous attention to every stitch.

The Process

1. Book an Appointment
Begin your journey with Shaun Oliver by booking a private appointment at our atelier in Berkhamsted or at our central London fitting room. For your convenience, we can also arrange to come to you.

2. Consultation & Styling
Over a coffee—or perhaps something stronger—you’ll sit down with Shaun to discuss your lifestyle, preferences, and the details that will define your new garment. Together, you’ll explore fabrics, linings, and styling options to create a look that feels distinctly yours.

3. Measurement & Pattern Cutting
Once the design has been agreed, Shaun personally takes your measurements and hand-cuts your unique paper pattern. This bespoke pattern forms the foundation of your garment, ensuring the perfect fit and proportion.

4. Basted Fitting
A few weeks later, your garment will be ready for its first fitting. In this stage, the suit is lightly constructed with white baste stitching—allowing Shaun and his team to assess the fit, shape, and balance before moving to the next phase.

5. Forward Fitting
Your garment now takes form. During this fitting, finer adjustments are made to refine the silhouette, drape, and comfort, ensuring every line complements your posture and personal style.

6. Final Fitting
At this stage, your suit or jacket is almost complete. Together, we review every detail, from lapel roll to button placement, ensuring the garment feels as exceptional as it looks.

7. Finishing
Once approved, your garment returns to our Savile Row-based tailors, who complete the hand-finishing work with precision—meticulous stitching, buttonholes, and pressing that bring the piece to life.

8. Collection
After approximately eight to ten weeks and a series of carefully considered fittings, your bespoke garment is ready. Each piece represents around eighty hours of dedicated craftsmanship—cut by Shaun, shaped by Savile Row artisans, and made exclusively for you.
